WEST LEEDERVILLE
Townhouses
completed 2012
The two townhouses are an exercise in restraint, passive solar design and medium density infill in a well established leafy suburb. The materials, finishes and their locations are carefully considered for their warmth and texture.
Externally the palette of grey's and cream compliment each other, their natural finish reacting with the changing daily light whilst providing little to no ongoing maintenance.
The hand troweled traditional cement and lime render echoes the patina and character of long lived Italian facades. The sandy cream bricks evoke a sense of our sand dunes and coastline.
A material marriage and tribute to both the authors Italian heritage and to the landscape we live.
Internally the palette is light, details sharp and spaces designed to create a sense of intimacy without compromising the sense of openness. Windows and doors extend from floor to ceiling to further enhance the sense of space and light and draw the outside in.
